Jeremy Sahlman had already been involved in creating several NFT projects before he co-founded Darkblock in early 2021. His creative design firm Black Math had helped develop several NFT projects, including Bitcoin Origins and Tezos Origins, handling the art and some strategy.

Unlockable Party Packs, or UPPs, is the latest unlockable feature offered by Darkblock. The packs debuted during NFT NYC at the Beyond the Metaverse Party hosted by Spatial, Ready Player Me, and David Cash.

Content Stacking and Collection upgrades are officially LIVE on Darkblock. These added features will allow creators to expand their NFT offerings and change the way content is consumed in web3.

That means updating our protocol with new, in-demand features, expanding into other blockchains, and integrating our API into more marketplaces. The race to include Polygon was a no-brainer: Polygon is arguably one of the most accessible blockchains due to their low gas fees.

Darkblock is ecstatic to announce our sponsorship of Sugoi during NFT NYC, curated by multidisciplinary artist and web3/NFT leader, LOGIK.

Sugoi, or “Wow, awesome!” in Japanese, is a 3-day event concurrent with NFT NYC 2022 that aims to promote “synergy at the intersection of NFTs, pop culture, subcultures, and big tech.” The 3-day event will feature panel discussions, a multiformat NFT gallery, food trucks, live music, DJs, and more.

We are thrilled to announce our most recent partnership with Pianity, a music NFT platform that encourages community engagement through creation, sharing, trading, and collecting of limited-edition tracks.

Pianity has been a friend of Darkblock’s since the very beginning. They participated in the Arweave hackathon with us back in April of 2021. Their platform has taken off alongside Darkblock and we are thrilled to finally be teaming up.

It has been a long time coming, but the wait is finally over; Darkblock is officially live on SolSea. With the undeniable growth of Solana, this collaboration has been a priority for Darkblock for months.

To integrate on SolSea, Darkblock provided the NFT marketplace with an API and implementation suggestions for the frontend. Additionally, Darkblock provided web delivery (Javascript widget) so Solsea could easily add unlockable content to their feature list.

Darkblock has officially partnered with Unmarshal, a multi-chain Data Infrastructure providing simplified access to data on DeFi, NFT and Metaverse. The partnership allows Darkblock to gather NFT metadata from a variety of chains in a decentralized, simplified way and helps Unmarshal direct their features.

The partnership was a natural choice for Darkblock with our multi-chain, decentralized mission. Unmarshal’s technology allows Darkblock to expand into Polygon and other chains with ease without relying on a centralized API datasource. Our project is only as decentralized as its most centralized component, so we are thrilled to work with Unmarshal and get one step closer to our goals.

Darkblock has officially partnered with NFT TiX, an NFT ticketing platform that removes the middlemen out of ticketing. Similar to Darkblock, NFT TiX is a decentralized blockchain platform that aims to give power back to the creators and direct buyers and away from centralized services.

Darkblock will facilitate NFT TiX to offer additional perks via decentralized unlockable content to their NFT ticket holders. This could materialize in the form of pre-show teasers, trailers, or even post-show merch, all only available to the NFT owner. This not only adds value to a NFT ticket before an event, but also increases the NFT’s secondary market worth if unlockables can still be sent. For example, a performer could send a backstage pass to a lucky fan who bought NFT TiX for his upcoming show or invite five attendees from his last show to his next gig. The possibilities are exciting and unlimited.

Darkblock is thrilled to announce our latest partnership with Cardinal, a rental protocol on Solana. The collaboration plans to bring rentable, unlockable content to the NFT community. The immediate use case for NFT rental will be the rental of 1 of 1 content like art and metaverse assets. Long term, our vision is to facilitate wide-spread rental of content. Music, podcasts, video content, and subscription to content feeds are the natural market for this service.

This past weekend at South by Southwest (SXSW), Darkblock hosted an 8-hour SXSW day show with performances by Peelander-Z, Mr. Lewis & The Funeral 5, Thee Idylls, and many more. Over 900 people attended between in-person guests, YouTube Live streamers, and our metaverse venue provided by Spatial and ISOBLOCK! This was the only VR, live streamed, and in-person party held during SXSW 2022.

Darkblock is a decentralized protocol that enables digital creators to upgrade their NFTs with special content only accessible by the NFT owner. Darkblock gives creators more control over their content to enable new business models leveraging the power of NFTs.

Darkblock is an open protocol for creators to leverage without permission. Darkblocks can be created and deployed to Arweave’s permanent data store directly, and then accessed via our TV App, our forthcoming web-delivery widget, or by interacting with the protocol to display content directly into any application.

Darkblock has launched a web and tv-app to enable creators to upgrade existing NFTs to include an exclusive piece of content reserved for the NFT owner.

The decentralized protocol layer works by attaching an encrypted asset to an existing NFT. The NFT displayed on a marketplace acts as a “preview” to the underlying asset (jpg, mp4, gif, etc.) protected in a Darkblock. Only the true owner of the NFT (or owners, if fractionalized), is able to decrypt and view the original NFT.
